How to silence your Motorola

How to put your Motorola in silent mode? This is the question we will try to answer in this tutorial. Whether it's to stay quiet, or not have the inconvenience of an exam, it often happens that you want to put your device on silent. In the first part, we will see how to set your Motorola to silent quickly, then we will show you how you can manage the priority modes for ringtones and notifications.

Finally, we will study the programmatic mode for silent on your Motorola, before concluding on the positive and negative aspects of silent mode.

Quickly switch off your Motorola

The easiest way to mute your Motorola is to slide the top of your screen down. From there you will have access to a new black screen.

A box named 'Audio profiles' will then be available.

Click on it and you will see a choice for different audio modes on your Motorola. Select the silent mode and your Motorola will be in silent mode. Note that alarms and other emergency messages will always ring on your device, we will detail the priority modes in the following section.

Silencing your Motorola with priority ringtones

Since the Lollipop version of the Android system, ringtones are now managed by priority modes.

Thus, someone who does not wish to have any ringtones at all, such as a speaker in an operating theater requiring silence who does not wish for noise, vibration or light from his screen, will have an interest in selecting 'No priority' or equivalent in this menu. Ring priority modes are available in the 'Settings' menu, available from the main screen of your Motorola. Once in this menu, you can go to the 'Sounds and notifications' menu, then to 'Ringtones'. In this menu of your Motorola you will have a choice between three options.

  • No ringtone: you will have no vibration, no ringtone or even the screen that lights up.

Even the alarm clock and other emergency messages from your Motorola will be disabled.

With this mode, your Motorola is completely silent.

  • 'Priority' mode: with this mode you deactivate all ringtones, except alarms and other notifications.

This option is very practical for turning your Motorola into an alarm clock.

  • 'All' mode: the silent mode of your Motorola is deactivated.

Put silent mode in programmatic mode on your Motorola

It is also possible to program the silent mode on your Motorola. To do this, go to the 'Priorities' tab of your smartphone as in the previous paragraph. In the lower part of this screen you will then have the choice to program a priority at a given time.

This is very practical, for example, to automatically program an alarm mode on your Motorola before bedtime.

Silent mode: its advantages and disadvantages

We hope we have helped you silence your Motorola via this article.
